About Kate

What I do

Applying to college can be a daunting experience, filled with anxiety and stress. Let me demystify the application process and help turn what can feel like an overwhelming process into a positive one. I will help your child find a college where they can succeed academically, participate actively in the college community and thrive socially. By working with me, your child will navigate the college admissions journey with a clear head and focused purpose.

Who I am

Kate is a graduate of Princeton University and the Columbia University School of Law. Prior to launching KS College Success, Kate worked as an application reader in the Princeton University Admissions Office, where she read thousands of undergraduate applications. She also volunteered for nearly a decade with the Princeton University Alumni Schools Committee and chaired the committee that interviewed students in Essex (NJ) and Hudson (NJ) counties. In addition to practicing law in New York and Seattle, Kate taught legal writing at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law in Washington, D.C. and English Composition at the National University of Singapore.

Kate is a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and the New Jersey Association for College Admission Counseling. She regularly attends conferences, seminars and webinars and has personally visited over seventy-five colleges, where she often meets with admissions representatives to get the inside story about college admissions trends.

Kate’s expertise includes evaluating students’ strengths, matching students to best fit colleges, essay review and ensuring a dynamic application that will stand out from others. She is focused on an intentional approach to college admissions and able to provide comprehensive guidance or targeted support to help students on their journey to college admissions success.

Kate is the proud mother of two young adults, a son who is a graduate of Amherst College and a daughter who is currently a student at Wesleyan University. In her spare time, Kate spends time training her German Shepherd dogs, reads and watches movies. She has seen the college admissions process from numerous vantage points and brings this experience to her current role as a college admissions consultant.
